The Piece in Detail

The slate version of the Fusion Stand. Identical in construction to the marble model, but the two vertical elements carry natural Black Rock slate: matte, finely layered, with a surface that absorbs light rather than reflecting it – for desks that need calm. We mill the black anodised aluminium base in Germany.

MacBook, iPad and a third device stand upright; the walls slide until everything sits snugly, and silicone padding protects the housings. A tray collects SIM cards, adapters and odds and ends – or you replace it with another slate element and extend the stand with additional walls. Every slate veneer splits differently: no two stands are the same.

Stone & Origin

Black Rock is a slate from the Jaipur region in Rajasthan, India. Slate forms differently from marble: clay mud was pressed into stone over millions of years and layered into wafer-thin sheets – and it is exactly these layers that can be split. That is why slate has always been the thin stone: the roofs of half the continents are covered with it. We split it thinner still than any roofer ever has.

Black Rock is not polished. Its surface stays as it was split: matte, warm, with a tangible texture and no fingerprints.

Protection & Fit

Care

Stone is easy to look after: a drop of Stone Cleaner on a soft cloth and the surface is clean again. Polished stone regains its depth with Marble Polish, while slate stays naturally matte. Care guide
