The Piece in Detail

Nero Portoro is quarried on the Ligurian coast near Portovenere and ranks among the rarest marbles in Italy. Golden-yellow veins run through the deep black ground – differently on every piece. We cut the stone wafer-thin, polish it to a high gloss and set it in matte black anodised aluminium, CNC-milled from solid.

The contrast of gloss gold, deep black and matte metal is the entire design. Your AirTag clicks in magnetically; the grey-plated carabiner holds on keys, backpack or luggage. Marble from Antolini, Verona; made in Mönchengladbach.

Stone & Origin

Nero Portoro is quarried on the Ligurian coast near Portovenere, where the quarries sit directly above the sea. Its name comes from gold: the yellow veins are iron-bearing deposits that look like liquid metal in the black. Since the Baroque it has adorned churches and palaces all the way to Versailles, and because the deposits are small, it remains one of the most expensive marbles in Italy to this day.

Polished to a high gloss, it reveals its full depth. We source it from Antolini in Verona.
