Real Slate Stone

True craftsmanship requires the best materials. Due to the careful selection from ancient rock and a minimal surface refinement, each ROXXLYN product speaks for itself. The manufacturing process begins with the formation of slate layers out of a natural 350 million year old rock. A sophisticated technique creates layers of real stones (0.6mm) that are as flexible as a credit card. At the same time, the unique structure and elegant beauty are preserved. Thus natural stone slate is more than just a building material.

Every stone has its history, behind every product stands an idea and development.

Unique, fascinating and timelessly attractive.

Only a handful of natural stones can be described in such a fascinating way as the materials that have been pressed together and changed into a new volume of rock. Heat, water, pressure and movement on the seabed created the conditions that have created shale rock. Some 350 million years ago, the finest clay mud settled at the bottom of the oceans. As a result of the enormous pressure of the water, clay rock was formed over millions of years. Enormous mountain building processes – one could also say earth shifts – ensured that the claystone layers were literally folded by lateral pressure. During this process, the original clay minerals crystallized into platelets of shaped minerals under the enormous heat of the pressure. Thus, the original clay rock was given a new structure: The foliation. It gave the rock a silky sheen, made it easy to split in the longitudinal direction – and gave entire regions their name, Slate Mountains. Whoever sets out today on mountain tours walks over the seabed of prehistoric times.

Slate occurs all over the world: also outside Europe in North America, South America, South Africa, Japan, China, Siberia and India. Ecology, durability, solidity and reliability characterize slat
